Yacht with loss of power

Launch No: 184
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Saturday, 24 August 2013
Location: Baltic Wharf, Totnes

A 31 foot ketch had moored alongside the Steam Packet Inn at Totnes to pick up a passenger. They called the Coastguard for assistance when the engine failed to restart and there was concern that the vessel, with a deep keel, would fall over on the ebbing tide. They decided to drift downstream guided by their own dinghy. Opposite Baltic Wharf they threw a line to the Dartmouth mobile Coastguard Search and Rescue team who pulled them alongside into a deeper berth. The lifeboat was stood down when they were 30 feet from the casualty vessel. Lifeboat crew. Buster Hart, helmsman. Haydn Glanvill and Kevin John crew. Launch crew. Steve Wallis, tractor driver. Tony Rendle crew.
