The skipper of a 30 ft. yacht with three on board requested help when he fouled his anchor whilst lying off Blackpool Sands. There was a steady southerly wind and he was lying off a lee shore. The lifeboat managed to rotate the yacht around the anchor point, but to no avail. The decision was made to attach a buoy to the anchor line and to cut it free. The Coastguard requested that the lifeboat escort the yacht to the entrance of Dartmouth Harbour as the yacht had no anchor to deploy in the event of engine failure. The yacht safely returned to harbour under motor.
