Yacht trapped by Higher Ferry cables

Launch No: 150
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Tuesday, 17 July 2012
Location: Higher Ferry crossing. Dartmouth Harbour

A Sunfast 40 yacht registered in St Malo with 5 on board became caught on the cables of the Higher Ferry. At night the ferry is moored a short distance off shore for the night. The yacht was trapped by the cable between the keel and the skeg a close distance behind the ferry. The lifeboat was able to pull the yacht sideways off the cable until it was free. The French yacht was then able to proceed under its own power to a berth on the Dart Marina. Lifeboat crew; Buster Hart Helmsman. Darren Hopley & Tony Rendle crew.
