Yacht at anchor, aground and tilting

Launch No: 248
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Sunday, 8 November 2015
Location: Near Vipers Quay, River Dart

As the RNL crew were assembling for Dartmouth's Remembrance Day Parade the Solent Coastguard tasked the inshore lifeboat to investigate a 42ft. sloop aground and tilting on the falling tide. There were no people on board the yacht and she was displaying an anchor ball. The lifeboat crew assumed that she had been blown from deeper water by the recent 50 Knot winds. There appeared to be no damage to the hull and no ingress of water. It was assumed that she would right herself on the rising tide and the Harbour Authority was informed. Lifeboat crew. Buster Hart, helmsman. Kevin Murphy and Aaron Spicer crew. Launch crew. Dai Richards, tractor driver. Chris Tracey and Jamie Mathys crew.
