Two kayakers rescued

Two men were attempting to paddle from Dartmouth to Paignton in an overloaded kayak. They became swamped as they left the estuary and managed to beach the craft on the rocks at the entrance to Newfoundland Cove. They contacted the Coastguard by mobile phone who then called out the R.N.L.I lifeboat. The two men were returned to the Darthaven Marina. The lifeboat then returned to the scene and towed the kayak back to it's owners. Lifeboat crew. Tony Chapman, helmsman. Haydn Glanvill & Lee Darch, crew. Launch crew. Jim Brent, Tractor driver. Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
