The RNLI Dart inshore lifeboat was tasked, along with the Dartmouth and Berry Head Coastguard Search and Cliff Rescue teams, to search for a woman who was reported to have attempted to swim to the Kingswear side of the river, having missed the last ferry. Whilst the lifeboat was searching the harbour, the lady was found asleep ashore on a pontoon by the Dartmouth Coastguards. She had not entered the water. Clothing, unrelated to the first incident, was found on the riverside during the search and the lifeboat crew carried out a further search in the area to check for anyone else that might have been in the water. No one was found and the lifeboat conveyed the lady to the Kingswear slip to be taken home by a member of the Berry Head Coastguard team.
