Pan Pan call from a Bayliner in Start Bay

Location: Start bay. One and a half miles south of Blackpool Sands.

The five adults and two youngsters on a 10 metre Bayliner requested assistance when the craft developed engine problems one and a half miles south of Blackpool sands. Other vessels had responded to their Pan Pan call and a 31ft craft from the Argonaut Sea School had taken the Bayliner in tow. The Coastguard requested the lifeboat to take over the tow once in the River Dart and the Bayliner was manoeuvered into a berth at the Darthaven Marina. Lifeboat crew. Helmsman Kevin Murphy. Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
