The RNLI Dart inshore lifeboat was tasked by the Coastguard to assist SW Ambulance with a medevac from the cruise ship Serenissima moored in the River Dart. The male 81 year old casualty from East Devon had a suspected fractured hip and assistance was required to evacuate him from the upper decks. The ILB attended the scene with the SW Ambulance paramedic and the crew paramedic on board. The crew paramedic assisted the ambulance paramedic with the treatment of the casualty. The lifeboat crew evacuated the casualty down three decks to the Harbour Authority vessel Lynx and he was taken across the river to the awaiting Coastguard team and ambulance. He was transferred to hospital in Exeter.
