Listing boat taking on water

Launch No: 148
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Friday, 6 July 2012
Location: Lower Garrow Point. River Dart

Two visiting yachtsmen onboard a 47ft two masted yacht at anchor just north of the Sandridge Boathouse informed the Coastguard that they were taking on water. When the lifeboat arrived they were listing to 60 degrees. The two onboard the yacht were able to contain the water they were taking on using their own engine and bilge pump. As the tide was rising the lifeboat remained on station until the list had reduced to 35 degrees. Lifeboat crew; Chris Wallace helmsman. Lee darch and Yorkie Lomas crew.
