Family of four adrift near rocks

Launch No: 103
Craft: Spirit of the Dart. D-702
Sunday, 27 March 2011
Location: Start Bay

The Coastguard tasked the Inshore Lifeboat to a 3m Rib, Ruby, whose engine had stopped close to rocks at Coombe Point on its way to Blackpool Sands. There were two adults on board with their two young children. The Rib was towed to the low water landing where the DLA found that the engine had stopped due to a blocked breather valve in the fuel line. The engine was restarted and the Rib continued on its way without further assistance. Helmsman Tony Chapman. Lifeboat crew Ewen Menzies. Launch crew Mark Strudwick and John Yunnie.
