Location: 1 mile off the Monument, Slapton Sands. Start Bay

An onlooker from the shore spotted a blue and white object enter the water one mile out from the central car park on Slapton Sands. He thought it could be a kitesurfer and raised the alarm as the object had not subsequently moved. The Inshore lifeboat was directed to the object by the mobile Coastguard team on Slapton Sands. The object was found to be seven helium filled New Year balloons and they were taken to the coastguard team ashore before the lifeboat returned to its station. DLA Mark Strudwick. Visitor Centre opening hours

The shop is now open from 11am to 3pm. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays. After closing on Saturday 4 December the VC will be closed until the start of half term week in Feb 2022.
